Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder Split Confirmed!

The shocking news broke this morning thatVampire Diaries stars Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev have split. We were rattled by the initial report from Us Weekly and questioned if it could be just more baseless rumors. But it seems the awful truth has now been confirmed by multiple sources. Our hearts are broken and we still don’t want to believe it!
“Vampire Diaries costars Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev have called it quits after dating for several years,” People confirmed this morning, driving another stake into our hearts over this terrible news. A source also confirmed the split to In Touch Weekly.

Rumors of an impending Ian and Nina breakup have been swirling around for months, but we’ve been desperately hoping they were false. The two have appeared to be spending far less time together than they used to. Plus, their previous bantering back and forth on Twitter has been almost entirely absent for quite a while. 

Even more worrying, Nina recently attended both The Great Gatsby premiere and the NYCMet Ball Gala without Ian by her side.

In an interview with Seventeen last September, Nina said that she really "didn't want to be dating one of my co-stars — my goal on the show was to be professional." However, she just couldn't help falling in love with Ian. "Sometimes you can't help who you have a connection with, and you can only fight it for so long — which I did for a really, really long time."

We have to wonder, when Nina Dobrev was caught Googling herself

 in NYC this week, was she looking to see if the news of her split from Ian Somerhalder had already hit the press?

Reps for the actors are still refusing to comment at this time.
