The Vampire Diaries Season 5 Scoop

The 5th season of The Vampire Diaries has officially started! We had access to one of the great minds behind the successful show, writer and producer Caroline Dries, with some scoop about the first episode of the season. The premiere is promising action, romance and a whole new world of possibilities for our supernatural heroes. Looks like Katherine (Nina Dobrev) will finaly pay for all the cruelties from the past now that Elena (Nina Dobrev) decides to bring her human shadow self to college: “It’ll be so much fun to see Elena forcing Katherine to do all the homework, exams and laundry for the girls in exchange of protection, now that the eldest doppelganger is weak and scared!" says Dries. Big news for Damon (Ian Somerhalder) too. Our favorite vampire bad boy and his roomie Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) will bond over video games and join forces against a new supernatural species coming to town, adding a new obstacle to the romance between Damon and Elena besides all the distance while she is in college and he stays in Mystic Falls. Of course, he is not a good boy, so we can expect phone sex and surprise visits at the campus, assures Caroline Dries. Our vampire barbie Caroline (Candice Accola) will experiment a rough start after Tyler’s refusal to come back and finding out that Klaus (Joseph Morgan) is going to be a daddy. But soon she recovers from the news and decides that parties and boys are the best medicine for a broken heart. But it’s Stefan that will shock the viewers. While Silas is pretending to be him in college brooding and writing diaries to hide his real motives, Stefan will be save by someone that you’re not expecting. We’ll learn that supernatural beings dominate the world under water too when a beautiful and mysterious mermaid rescues Stefan from his submerged cage. Will Stefan finally find a new epic and aquatic love? We will need to wait until october to find out."

The Vampire Diaries’ leading lady, Nina Dobrev who portrays our beloved Elena Gilbert andKatherine Pierce, participated in a live interview with Vanity Fair on Twitter Thursday. Fans could tweet their questions for Nina to Vanity Fair’s Krista Smith (@kristasmith) marked with the hashtag #AskNina. What inspired you to pursue a career in acting? I was such a good lair as a kid… It seemed like no brainer to try to capitalize on that to make $ Joking!!!! Haha I just loved playing pretend. Making up characters. Being different people. It’s fun! And honestly… I watched a lot of films, people like Meryl Streep, Rachel Mcadams inspired me.

What is the best gift you’ve ever received? Hmmm… I’m not a material girl. My love can’t be purchased.. Best gifts have been well thought out surprises.

What’s the best advice that anyone has ever given to you? To know your worth and never let anyone negotiate you down. Don’t settle for less than what you deserve.

I recently went salsa dancing ! That was fun!

What the best part of your job?? Being surprised and challenged everyday.. Stunts, emotional scenes, great dialogue.

The Vampire Diaries is a huge success, however what else do u hope 2 achieve in your career? I’d like to try different genres, comedy, period drama, rom-com, action. Work w/ directors I admire.

Phoebe Tonkin is on Team Klaroline!

When "Vampire Diaries" fans saw the pilot for "The Originals" spinoff, they were shocked to learn that Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) is pregnant. 

When she and Klaus (Joseph Morgan) had a drunken encounter -- fueled more by boredom than by any actual interest in each other -- they never expected to need protection, since vampires can't get sick, and can't procreate. Turns out, though, hybrid vampires can procreate.

Oops.

It was surprising to the actors as well as the fans, but Tonkin is taking it all in stride. "I didn't know I was going to play a pregnant woman! I'm excited, I'm going to eat ice cream, get into character," she jokes.

There's an old saying warning actors to avoid working with children and animals on set -- but Tonkin has her fingers crossed that there will be a toddler hanging out on "The Originals" stages in Atlanta. "I want a little kid running around! I can babysit and hang out," she says. "I was a nanny, so I feel like it's my element, having a child on my hip."

She's not expecting any domestic bliss with Klaus, though. In fact, as a fan of "The Vampire Diaries" herself, Tonkin is hoping he ends up with someone else entirely. "Can I go, first, on the record, and say Team Klaroline," she says. "Please. I'm on the team. I'm on the team!"

As Julie Plec told us, Tonkin reiterates that Klaus and Hayley aren't going to fall in love while changing diapers. "I think that Hayley and Klaus got together not thinking it was going to go any further than that one night situation, and that's life. Things come up. I think they're going to deal with that, but I think it's more about the child, and the issue of the pregnancy, as opposed to them being together in a relationship. I don't really see that happening. But there's a lot of other characters, and I'm sure Hayley will find someone to help her look after the child."

Marguerite MacIntyre Joins The Originals as a Writer

Huge congratulations are in order to Marguerite MacIntyre, who plays Sheriff Forbes on The Vampire Diaries. She’s joining the show’s spin-off, The Originals, but not as Caroline’s (Candice Accola) mother.

Liz Tigelaar — a writer for Nashville and Life Unexpected’s executive producer — tweeted the news last night. “Congrats to @Caryshotwife who not only rocks sheriff pants on #TVD but is also a writer on #TheOriginals. #yay #doublethreat,” she wrote.

This isn’t Marguerite’s first foray into writing. She wrote for Pretty Tough, a web series based on books by none other than Liz Tigelaar.

In case you didn’t know, Marguerite is also pretty close friends with TVD executive producer Julie Plec. She told Entertainment Weekly of her bestie, “I have what I call my Cosmo Girls, which is Liz Tigelaar and Marguerite MacIntyre, who plays Sheriff Forbes on The Vampire Diaries and was also on Kyle XY and who is an exceptional writer. She is our secret weapon. Liz and I, each struggling to break our own story or just dealing with plotting or creative frustrations, will talk it through with each other and talk it through with Marguerite, and inevitably, Marguerite will be the one to come up with the solution. [Laughs] So she could make a living being the writer muse.”

The Originals' new premiere episode: What's coming for 'The Vampire Diaries' spinoff?

"The Originals," a spinoff of The CW's hit series, "The Vampire Diaries," technically premiered with a backdoor pilot episode during the past "TVD" season. But the show is now getting an independent premiere of its own -- a new episode will be shot during the summer.

What will fans see in this new premiere?

Chronologically, the new "Originals" premiere will follow the backdoor pilot. That episode -- and everything that happened in it -- will still exist in the show's universe. The purpose of the new premiere is instead to move the story forward and to introduce the characters and concepts to new viewers who may not have watched "The Vampire Diaries" in the past.

There will also be a new character, Davina. Played by Danielle Campbell, this character is a witch in New Orleans who gets tied up in Klaus' (Joseph Morgan) return to town. Davina was originally supposed to be in the backdoor pilot, but the part was cut during editing.

It's important to note that this new premiere is not supposed to replace the already-aired pilot in any way. All of the big events -- Klaus' return to New Orleans, his conflict with Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) and the reveal that Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) is pregnant with Klaus' child -- will remain part of the show's chronology.

The new episode will just show us what happens next.
